Excursion to waterfall Kivach

10: 00 – Transport takes you on a tour Kivach at your designated place. Departure on the route. We use comfortable buses and cars designed for travel. All have the necessary documents for transportation. The guide goes with you and will be happy to answer all your questions on the way. To go about 1.5 hours.

11: 30 – Arrival to Kivach reserve. A tour of the reserve and, of course, a visit to the waterfall. The waterfall does not freeze even in winter, so there will be exactly what to see. On request, you can visit the local Museum. Kivach takes its name, according to various sources, either from the Karelian word “kivi”, meaning “stone” in translation; the second variant is the Finnish word “kiwas”, which translates as “snow mountain”. Although it is unlikely to be possible to establish what the ancient inhabitants of Karelia meant when they called this place, it is safe to say that both names will suit the waterfall. Its bed runs between the dark rocks and on their background the fall of water from a height looks like a small avalanche, descended from the mountain. The waterfall has a water drop height of 11 meters, while its length along the river song extends to 170 meters. The height of the waterfall in its current state allows us to speak about the fourth place in the ranking of the highest plain waterfalls in Europe. Before the dam was built upstream, the Kivach waterfall was almost on a par with the German Rhine waterfall. At the waterfall Kivach do not forget about safety.
