Walking tour of Zelenogradsk: we will visit the Murarium Cat Museum, which is located right in the water tower – a 40-meter tower built by the Germans in 1905 to improve the water supply system. Recently, the Murarium cat museum has been located inside the tower. At the moment, the “Murarium” has more than 4500 exhibits: all kinds of cat figurines, paintings, soft toys, postcards, dishes, etc .; we will walk along the street “Kurortny prospect”. Many examples of German architecture of the 19th – early 20th centuries (mostly in good condition) are concentrated on the pedestrian street of Zelenogradsk. The ground floors of many buildings are adapted for cafes, restaurants, shops and souvenir shops. Among the main attractions of Kurortny Prospect are: the Post Office building, Kurhaus, Krantz’s clock, the sculpture “Kurortnitsa” and the monument to Zelenograd cats; Pump room Queen Louise – there is a pump room with mineral water on the Zelenogradsky Promenade. It is named after Queen Louise, whom the Prussian people once loved and revered; visit the Zelenograd Museum of Local Lore (Villa Krell). The Local History Museum occupies a two-storey villa located in the very center of the city. Before the war, the family of the famous lawyer Max Krell lived here; Moving to the village “Nekrasovo”: see the castle “Shaaken”. This building was erected in the XIII century by the knights of the Teutonic Order. During its existence, the castle was rebuilt several times, so it did not retain its original appearance …
